October 2016 Explicit Flashback: Jezebelle Bond

In the “porn” world there are so many different angles to which us fans find our niche. There is Playboy, or at least there use to be, Hustler, Penthouse. For those who prefer the more dark and deep of erotic plunges, there were magazines like Gallery, Swank and Paradise, that all featured Porn Stars at their most beautiful. Scenes were shot by amazing photographers. People like Suze Randell were hitting our spot with pictures so sexy and provocative, all while maintaining something so vivid and artistic.

At the center of the magazine craze were all these wonderful production companies making productions. Coast to Coast Films, Legend Pictures and of coarse the giants like VCA, Vivid and Wicked Pictures. Some have withstood the test of time, while others have fallen. Through the thick and thin of those years of growth and excellence, there was one woman who was in almost every single one of those magazines and was in a film with every single one of those companies, not to mention making a few appearances on Cinemax, growing our love for adult cinema at the most tame of levels. That woman was our spotlight actress for this month miss Jezebelle Bond.

In an era that gave birth to performers with captivating acting ability, Jezebelle is one of the women who truly deserves credit as a part of a cast that brought things together. She was amazing when it came to comedy. I think she is one of the very few women who can share camera time with the one and only Evan Stone and hold her own. In most films, there are your massive lead roles, which miss Bond had her fair share of. What she was known for, was simply being the one actor that always put on a show, that always seemed to get things right, even when the rest of the cast did not. When you look at her portfolio, you will see why she has over 200 adult films. This by the standards of the the 1990’s and early 2000’s was massive. This was before the big boom of the internet, before there was even such a thing as “pirated” adult films and scenes.

In one of her best films, which is on the AVN Top 500 List of Greatest Adult Films, Jezebelle starred in Confessions, from acclaimed director Nic Andrews and New Sensations. This film showcases her soft and sensual side, something I think she did not always get the part in when she first started in the industry. Her scene was with the scrumptious Shay Sweet and both ladies take us on a “white” day dream of pure fantasy. Her performance was one of the most heralded at the time and it showed a lot of people what “award” worthy truly means. Miss Bond had been in the industry for four years at that time I do believe and during this time period, critics were finally getting to show an appreciation for her work. Once again, this was during a time when the internet was not yet the place for “porn” as it is today. Reviews were seen only in magazines and newsletters in the industry. A few sites had access for fans to check out the latest adult films but most of the reviews were done by a handful of writers and industry people.

It was safe to say that films like Flash from Wicked Pictures with her and Stephanie Swift were being rekindled and people were coming in masses to see her films.

I once had the opportunity to meet Jezebelle in my college days before I got into the industry, or any industry for that matter. Jezebelle is only a few years older than me and when I first met her at a convention she was outgoing and seemed like the ultimate person to party with. She seemed like a woman who did not hold her tongue and told it like it was. I think that type of confidence was deserved, because it was at that time she told me she started out as a dancer in California. As the years have gone by, I have realized how big a deal this was. See, the clubs back in my younger years were not like they were today. A gentleman’s club was a place were the regulars where treated like family, the women, they were of the up most loyal of people to their fellow workers and best of all, they were people who not only had to love performance if they wished to survive in just the club atmosphere, they had to love what they would do, or they would be unemployed fast. Jezebelle, she worked her way up fast through the ranks, she had to. That ladies and gents is the stuff that legends are made out of.

I think I would simply love to know how Jezebelle got into the industry from being a dancer and being that I met her in my early twenties, that means she got discovered fast and I mean super fast. Faster than most women get discovered in today’s technologically driven society. From 1999 on the rest is history and we got to see her transform into so many different visions of our fantasies that sometimes there is simply too many to count.

It simply goes to show why the women of California are truly the ladies of our dreams. Miss Bond always brought her A+ game and love her, or hate her, the one thing you have to give it up to her for, was always bringing things to the table that either made you into a fan after seeing her films, or simply gave you a deeper respect for what she did. I think it was a film called the Land of The Amazons and it was a film were she stole the show from start to finish. Ironically, this was almost the same theme for one of her famous “after dark” Cinemax movies. It was in this film, I saw a great utilization of Jezebelle Bond. I finally saw a director give the green light to showcase her and her talents in the best of ways in a feature. I, in all honesty hope to see Jezebelle join the ranks of her co-stars in the hall of fame with multiple companies. The amount of money this little gal from Eureka, California made for others is astronomical but it is not just about the money, no, it is about an adult film legend joining the ranks of something she helped create. Very few performers came before her with tattoos, with that “bad girl” type cast from the start. The doors this lovely lady opened are still being nudged to become wider and wider but it was Jezebelle Bond who set a standard while she was performing that will forever be associated with this industry. That dear readers, is what the definition of legendary is, someone who starts something that can not be undone and she did just that.

Don Juan DeMarko

I have been in the adult industry since I was indeed a young history major out of college. I attended a "Public Ivy" located in Williamsburg, Virginia. I have a multiple degrees & certificates including one in graphic design that led me to this wonderful and amazing industry. I started as just a lowly consultant for a design firm in Los Angeles that led me to introductions with some amazing people in the adult film industry and the rest is history. I have fulfilled work and helped to write publications for some of the biggest names in music, sports and film but my passion, the place where I truly call "home" because it is where the heart is, lies within the adult entertainment industry. I am an XRCO Member and I always like to say the art of making "fantasy become reality" is indeed something that takes the effort of many people, from all likes & spectrums of this amazing world. It is indeed those people and the fans of this industry that drive me to always show the beautiful amazing side of this industry few know but many dream about.
